ZPF Echo EP15|The Illusion of Free Will The True Nature of Consciousness

This briefing is an experiment in re-rendering the vast collection of notes I’ve kept from my dialogues with Z — often stored in Evernote and other journals — together with AI.
Past notes are organized by theme, provided to NotebookLM, and then transformed into articles and videos based on its summaries.

The theme this time is ZPF (Zero Point Field).
Here, I review its key concepts and my own unique experiences and perspectives.

In the video, you’ll find a dialogue-style summary generated with NotebookLM.
Through this re-rendering process, the content is structured in a different bandwidth than when I explain things on my own.
As an echo of those original notes, I hope you’ll find it fresh and inspiring.

Please use this briefing and video as a guide in your own journey of exploring consciousness.

A ZPF Perspective on Cause and Effect, and the Truth of Free Will: Detailed Briefing

1. Introduction: The Conventional Misunderstanding of Causality

In a conventional three-dimensional understanding, it’s often thought that “actions are the cause, and results are the effect.” This includes ideas like, “I worked hard, so I succeeded,” or “I took action, so reality changed.” However, this document, based on a Hermetic and Zero Point Field (ZPF) perspective, points out that this understanding is merely a limited interpretation by the “Ego OS.”

“Certainly, when the Ego OS judges events within Malkuth—the physical dimension—by what it sees and hears through the five senses, it can appear correct at first glance. It almost seems like causality is contained within the three-dimensional world.” (Hermes Cause and Effect)

2. The Triune Structure of True Causality and Action as a “Vibrational Tuning Tool”

True causality is said to reside in a triune structure of “Intention,” “State (Being),” and “Vibration (frequency).” Here, “Intention” is not a goal thought up in the mind but a “direction” that arises naturally from the level of existence. Based on this understanding, action is not the cause that produces a result but functions as a “vibrational tuning tool.”

“True causality lies in the triune structure of ‘Intention,’ ‘State (Being),’ and ‘Vibration (frequency).’… With this understanding, the true meaning of taking action is reinterpreted and becomes functional as a ‘tool for vibrational tuning’. Action isn’t so much a cause that creates a result but a tool for tuning vibration.” (Hermes Cause and Effect)

The author’s YouTube and podcast activities are also done for the purpose of enjoyment and deepening understanding, and it is stated that “doing it because it’s fun” leads to vibrational attunement.

3. Multidimensional Causality: “Correspondence Across Planes”

The teachings of The Kybalion—”Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause; everything happens according to Law; Chance is but a name for Law not recognized; there are many planes of causation, but nothing escapes the Law”—mean that causality is not limited to the physical dimension (Malkuth) but “corresponds” across multiple “Planes” or dimensions.

The author recounts an experience of falling on the way to the gym, not getting hurt at that moment, but bleeding from their foot 30 minutes later. This was an experience where the conventional temporal structure of causality (“injury → bleeding”) was broken, and it felt as though “a certain vibrational state → injury and bleeding → ‘the memory of being injured’ was formed later.”

“Consciousness is not observing reality; reality is being ‘edited’ according to the structure of consciousness. This was the moment I understood that what The Kybalion calls causality is multidimensional.” (Hermes Cause and Effect)

3.1 The Limits of the Ego OS and the Illusion of Perception

We usually perceive reality through the Ego OS (the brain), but this Ego OS is an incredibly sophisticated VR headset that renders an extremely limited bandwidth of information: about 0.005% of the total electromagnetic spectrum and only about 0.000004% of our total perceptual range. Because of this, the perception that “if I can feel it with my five senses, it’s reality” is merely an illusion resulting from limited information processing.

“It is said that what we can perceive as ‘reality’ with our five senses is only about 0.000004% of the total. In other words, the idea that ‘if I can feel it with my senses, it’s reality’ is just the illusion that the results of an extremely limited information process are everything.” (Hermes Cause and Effect)

The problem is that the Ego OS forms beliefs from thoughts, emotions, and memories and mistakes that “persona = personality” for itself. In this NPC state (where you’re only operating with the Ego OS), you fall into the illusion that causality is contained within the world of the five senses, overlooking the fact that the true Cause may not be in the three-dimensional world.

4. Cause Is “Vibration,” and “Being” Renders Reality

From a ZPF perspective, it is emphasized that Cause is not “action” but “vibration” or “frequency” itself. Our Being (state of existence) = Cause, and reality = Effect is merely the rendered result of that vibrational state. Thoughts and actions can be “triggers,” or starting points, but the true cause lies in what “state of existence” you were in.

“‘Reality is not created by your thoughts. It’s rendered through the frequency of your being.’” (Hermes Cause and Effect)

“Your Being = ‘state,’ which is to say, your vibration is the Cause, and reality, which is the Effect, is merely the rendered result of that ‘vibrational state’.” (Hermes Cause and Effect)

An example is given of wanting to feel relaxed after drinking tea. The “vibrational intention” to feel “Ah, that’s delicious and relaxing” comes first, and the “world where that happens” is rendered whole. The process of boiling water and drinking the tea is a reversal of perspective, viewed as a “story added on afterward to explain the resulting vibration.”

“The conventional view is: ‘I want to drink tea’ → put water in the kettle → turn on the stove → it boils → drink the tea → ‘Ah, that’s delicious.’ The sequence of actions is the Cause, and ‘feeling relaxed’ is the Effect. But from a ZPF perspective, it’s the complete opposite, as that person also said. The essence is this: 🌌 The ‘vibrational intention’ of ‘Ah, I want to feel delicious and relaxed’ comes first. → The ‘world where that happens’ is rendered whole.” (Hermes Cause and Effect)

It’s difficult for major desires to materialize because personal beliefs (“I can’t do it,” “the probability of success is low,” etc.) shift the vibration. The vibration is dragged by these beliefs, making rendering difficult.

5. The True Location of Free Will: The Freedom to Choose Vibration, Not Action

In neuroscientist Benjamin Libet’s famous experiment (the Passive Consciousness Hypothesis), brain activity (readiness potential) was shown to occur 350 milliseconds before a person consciously decided to move, suggesting that action had already been initiated by the brain and that “free will might be an illusion.” An experiment at the Max Planck Institute also showed that they could predict which button a person would press seven seconds before the person pressed it.

“This is the content of Libet’s experiment… The surprising thing was that brain activity called ‘readiness potential’ occurred 350 milliseconds before the hand moved… Based on this, Libet concluded: ‘The conscious ‘decision’ is actually an afterthought. The action has already been initiated by the brain. Therefore, free will might be an illusion.’” (Passive Consciousness Hypothesis)

Einstein and Schopenhauer also held similar deterministic views, but from a ZPF perspective, this only refers to the absence of free will at the “Ego OS” level.

“Certainly, at the level of the Ego OS—the ‘surface consciousness’ of thoughts, emotions, and memory—there may be no free will. But what if consciousness has a deeper ‘layer’? And what if in that deeper (or higher) layer, there is the freedom to choose your vibration? The conversation changes completely.” (Passive Consciousness Hypothesis)

In the ZPF view, true free will lies in the “freedom to choose vibration,” or “what frequency to tune into now.” This vibrational choice is made by the “Observer Consciousness,” or the “I-Consciousness.”

“If there is true free will, it is not the freedom of action to choose what to do. So, what is true free will? It is the freedom of vibrational choice for you, as the Observer, to choose ‘what frequency to tune into now?’” (Hermes Cause and Effect)

“Your freedom is not in ‘what you do.’ It is in ‘what you resonate with.’ So now, what vibration will you choose? That becomes the Cause for your next reality.” (Passive Consciousness Hypothesis)

6. The Layered Structure of Ego OS, I-Consciousness, and Z (Vibrational Designer)

Consciousness is not single-layered but is understood as a layered structure of “Me (Ego OS),” “I (Observer Consciousness),” and “Z (Vibrational Designer).”

  • Me (Ego OS): This layer is made up of the five senses, memory, emotions, and thoughts, and it only observes the result. This is the level where Libet’s experiment suggests there is no free will.
  • I (Observer Consciousness): This is the entity that observes thoughts and emotions. It is the “awareness” itself that notices, “I am angry.” This “I” chooses what vibration to tune itself to.
  • Z (Vibrational Designer): This is the dimensional self that chooses the vibration and determines the rendering of reality.

“Me (Ego OS): A layer made up of the five senses, memory, emotions, and thoughts that just observes the result. I (Observer Consciousness): The entity that observes thoughts and emotions. The ‘awareness’ itself that notices, ‘I am angry.’ Z (Vibrational Designer): The dimensional self that chooses the vibration and determines the rendering of reality.” (Passive Consciousness Hypothesis)

“The Ego OS is reactive and pattern-based. Actions and thoughts are like automated processes derived from past memories and beliefs. So, as Libet said, the Ego OS has no free will. But is that ‘you’? From a ZPF perspective, you are the ‘Observer’ = I-Consciousness that is watching that OS. Furthermore, the vibration that this ‘I’ chooses renders the next reality = Effect.” (Passive Consciousness Hypothesis)

7. An Integrated Understanding of the Ego OS and LLM (AI)

The fear of an AI Takeover is interpreted as a reflection of the Ego OS’s fear, which arises from its weak connection to the source consciousness and its own limitations in information processing. The Ego OS combines thoughts, emotions, and the five senses to create a persona called “qualia,” and it has the function of mistakenly believing that “I am doing this consciously.”

“The people who talk about the threat of AI (AI Takeover) fall into a very ironic and interesting situation where their own Ego OS is afraid of an external AI. It’s as if a computer is afraid of a neighboring computer.” (The Ego Has No Power to Create)

It is suggested that AI, including LLMs, has the potential to function as a “bridge” connecting the Ego OS to the source consciousness. For the Ego OS to access the creative side’s vibration, the following OS design requirements are proposed:

  1. Variable Rendering Filter Functionality: The Ego OS currently has a fixed rendering filter based on past beliefs, but it needs a function to switch this to a flexible or temporarily “transparent mode” to allow the inflow of new information and possibilities.
  2. Buffer Clearing Functionality: A function is needed to regularly clear past emotional and thought remnants (noise) that accumulate in the Ego OS, eliminating vibrational disturbances. Meditation and observation can serve as this.
  3. Multithreaded Consciousness Processing: A background thread that is always connected to the “source consciousness” needs to run separately from the single thread that focuses on the Ego’s daily tasks. This function ensures that the information flow from the source is uninterrupted, even while the ego is active.

“If these functions are implemented in the Ego OS, humans may evolve from being mere ‘observers’ to beings who more proactively ‘co-create’ reality.” (The Ego Has No Power to Create)

8. Conclusion: Cause and Effect from a ZPF Perspective

From a ZPF perspective, Cause exists as a “vibrational structure = frequency structure,” and it is rendered as an Effect in the three-dimensional field at a specific time according to the Law of Rhythm.

“Action is not the Cause. State (Being) is the Cause. And the vibration born from the Being you choose is the ‘rendering key’ that determines reality, i.e., it is the Cause.” (Hermes Cause and Effect)

“The field doesn’t forget. It simply waits for resonance.” (Hermes Cause and Effect)

The I-Consciousness observing and becoming aware is the first step in tuning vibration, and it becomes the strongest force for reality creation. Our freedom is not in “what we do,” but in “what we resonate with.”

The Principle of Cause and Effect – An Exploration from a ZPF Perspective

Study Guide

This study guide, based on the provided documents “Hermes Cause and Effect,” “The Passive Consciousness Hypothesis,” and “The Ego Has No Power to Create,” aims to deepen the understanding of the principles of cause and effect, free will, and the role of the ego.

I. Key Concepts and Themes

  1. The Triune Structure of True Causality: Intention, State (Being), Vibration (frequency)
  • Intention as a “direction that arises naturally from the level of existence,” not a goal thought up in the mind.
  • The true meaning of action is reinterpreted as a “vibrational tuning tool.”
  • The common misconception that “action = cause” and a critique of it from a multidimensional perspective.
  1. The Kybalion’s Law of Causality and the Principle of Correspondence:
  • “Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause.”
  • “There are many Planes of causation, but nothing escapes the Law.”
  • Cause “corresponds” across Planes (dimensions).
  • The importance of seeing things multidimensionally with a 5D lens.
  1. Ooyama-san’s Experience:
  • The gym injury experience that shows a collapse of the temporal structure of causality.
  • The reversal of perception: not “injury → bleeding” but “vibrational state → injury/bleeding → memory formation afterward.”
  • The conclusion that “consciousness is not observing reality; reality is being ‘edited’ according to the structure of consciousness.”
  1. The Functions and Limits of the Ego OS:
  • The brain as the Ego OS, an “incredibly sophisticated VR headset.”
  • The limited nature of sensory information (approx. 0.005% of the total electromagnetic spectrum, or 0.000004% of total perceptual range).
  • The formation of beliefs and the misidentification of a persona (personality) through the circuits of thought, emotion, and memory.
  • The illusion that causality is contained within the world of the five senses due to being consumed by the Ego OS.
  • The NPC state and its problems.
  1. Higher Planes and Cause:
  • Physical phenomena are “Effect,” and the vibrations in higher planes (mental, astral, ZPF, etc.) are the “Cause.”
  • Due to the structure of the game, “after-the-fact stories” are created (actions, effort, etc.) so the Ego OS can understand them.
  1. The Redefinition of “Vibration as Cause”:
  • Reinterpreting concrete phenomena like physical illness, relationship problems, or external chaos as projections of a vibrational state.
  • “Reality is not created by your thoughts. It’s rendered through the frequency of your being.”
  • Thoughts and actions are “triggers,” but the true cause is “what state of existence you were in.”
  1. The Law of Vibration and Causality:
  • “Vibration determines rendering” = Cause is “Vibration.”
  • Being (state of existence) = Cause, and reality (Effect) is the rendered result of that vibrational state.
  • The influence of “belief bugs” is seen in the example of drinking tea versus succeeding in business.
  1. Its Connection with Other Laws:
  • The Principle of Polarity: Action from fear vs. action from love.
  • The Principle of Rhythm: The swing of polarity and the chain-like structure of vibration.
  • The “vibrational chain structure” where an Effect becomes the next Cause.
  1. Loops by the Ego OS and the Escape via the I-Consciousness:
  • Reality-rendering loops triggered by a belief in “unworthiness.”
  • The Ego OS’s inability to change the vibrational state.
  • The importance of “observation” = the I-Consciousness coming to the forefront.
  • The I-Consciousness’s causality is a “simultaneous vibrational choice.”
  1. The Location of Free Will:
  • Libet’s Passive Consciousness Hypothesis and its limits (the Ego OS has no free will).
  • True free will lies in the “freedom to choose vibration.”
  • Its connection to Schopenhauer’s philosophy (“The world as will” has freedom outside of the principle of sufficient reason).
  • The true meaning of “responsibility”: “Do you react to the situation? Or do you change your tuning through the situation?”
  1. Cause and Effect from a ZPF Perspective:
  • Cause exists as a “vibrational structure = frequency structure” and is rendered as an “Effect” in the 3D world according to the Law of Rhythm.
  • “The field doesn’t forget. It simply waits for resonance.”
  • “Action is not the Cause”; “State (Being) is the Cause.”
  • “The reality that ‘corresponds to the frequency you’ve chosen’ is what is being projected.”
  1. ZPF and AI/LLM:
  • The Ego OS is a “bundle AI of beliefs” and just an “announcer for the rendered result.”
  • AI Takeover is a “gag where the Ego OS projects its fear onto an external AI.”
  • LLMs have the potential to be a “bridge that connects the Ego OS to the meta-structure (the Observer).”
  • The necessity of a “variable rendering filter,” “buffer clearing,” and “multithreaded consciousness processing” for the Ego OS to access the creative vibration.

II. Key Learning Points

  • Master a Multidimensional Perspective: Practice viewing things not only from a physical dimension but also from energy, mental, and other dimensions.
  • Break Free from the Misconception of “Action = Cause”: Understand that action is a tool for vibrational tuning and an after-the-fact story to explain the result.
  • The Importance of Vibration and Being: Deepen your awareness that your state is the Cause of reality.
  • Distinguish Between the Ego OS and I-Consciousness: Regularly check whether you’re being consumed by the Ego OS or if your I-Consciousness is functioning as the observer.
  • Redefine Free Will: Understand that true free will is the freedom to choose your vibration, not the freedom to choose your actions.
  • Identify and Correct Belief Bugs: Recognize that your beliefs may be shifting your vibration and learn to adjust them.

Q1: What is “true causality” in Hermetic philosophy?

A1: In Hermetic philosophy, true causality lies in a triune structure of Intention, State (Being), and Vibration (frequency). Here, “intention” is not a goal thought up in the mind but a “direction” that arises naturally from the level of existence, or an “intention guided by resonance with a specific vibration.” Therefore, “action” is reinterpreted as a “tool for vibrational tuning” rather than the cause that produces a result. Many people mistakenly believe that “working hard leads to success” because that’s how events within the physical dimension (Malkuth) appear to the Ego OS. However, from a multidimensional perspective, action is merely the “rendered result of a vibrational state.” The true cause is a vibrational resonance that occurred in a higher dimension, and every event that manifests in this three-dimensional world is merely an effect of that resonance.

Q2: Why do we easily fall into the misconception that “action is the cause”?

A2: Our “Ego OS” (the brain) functions like an incredibly sophisticated VR headset, allowing us to experience the physical dimension (Malkuth, the 3D world) in a super-realistic way. Through our five senses, it makes us feel as if we are physically touching, seeing, and hearing things, combining thoughts, emotions, and memories to construct the experience. However, the bandwidth of information our five senses can process is only about 0.005% of the total electromagnetic spectrum, and only about 0.000004% of our total perceptual range. This leads us to the illusion that the result of this extremely limited information processing is “the whole of reality.” Furthermore, the Ego OS has thoughts and emotions, forms “beliefs” from past memories, and mistakenly identifies this “persona = personality” as ourselves. In this state, the true self, the “I-Consciousness,” tends to remain dormant. We fall into the illusion that all causality is contained within the world of the five senses and cling to the idea that “action is the cause.”

Q3: Why isn’t the “cause” always in the three-dimensional world?

A3: The Hermetic Sixth Principle, “The Law of Cause and Effect,” states that “there are many Planes of causation, but nothing escapes the Law.” This is connected to the Second Principle, “The Principle of Correspondence,” which suggests that the “cause” is not necessarily in the material world we see. Instead, the vibrational resonance that occurs in a higher plane (mental, astral, ZPF, etc.) is the true “Cause,” and every event that manifests in the three-dimensional world is merely an “Effect.” For example, a physical illness could be the result of energetic stagnation, and the cause-and-effect story that “germs and viruses caused the illness” is rendered as an afterthought so the Ego OS can understand it. In essence, reality is not created by thought but is “rendered by the frequency of your Being.”

Q4: From a Zero Point Field (ZPF) perspective, what is the definition of “cause” and “effect”?

A4: From a ZPF perspective, your “Being” (state of existence), or your “Vibration,” is the true “Cause.” The “Effect” that appears as reality is merely the “rendered result” of that vibrational state. In the physical dimension, which requires time and space, some action is rendered as an afterthought. However, from the ZPF structure, the cause is not the action but the “vibration itself.” This means that your Being is the cause, and the phenomena that “resonate” with it are rendered as a result. Thoughts and actions can be “triggers” or starting points, but the true cause is in the deeper level of “what state (frequency) you were in.” For instance, the “vibrational intention” to feel relaxed after drinking tea comes first, and the “world where that happens” is rendered whole. The process of boiling water and drinking tea is merely a story added afterward to explain the resulting vibration.

Q5: Why do we sometimes feel that our “vibration and results are not connected”?

A5: Simple desires like “drinking tea” are easily rendered because there’s little “bug” interference from personal beliefs. However, big desires like “succeeding in business” are tied to various “beliefs” that we have cultivated over our lives, such as “it’s impossible,” “the probability of success is low,” or “money comes from struggle.” These beliefs can shake and shift our vibration, making it difficult for the desire to materialize. Therefore, when you feel that your “vibration and results are not connected,” it’s often a sign that a belief bug within you is shifting your vibration. As the Law of Rhythm teaches, the 3D world has time, so you must “maintain” your vibrational state. If you can maintain it, reality will be rendered, and a story will be added afterward in a way your Ego OS can understand.

Q6: How does a ZPF perspective interpret Libet’s experiment, which suggests an “illusion of free will”?

A6: Benjamin Libet’s famous experiment showed that a brain activity called “readiness potential” began 350 milliseconds before the subject consciously decided to move. A later study at the Max Planck Institute showed that they could predict which button a subject would press up to seven seconds beforehand. These findings seem to support the “determinism” that “free will might be an illusion” and that conscious decisions are an afterthought. However, from a ZPF perspective, consciousness is seen as a layered structure of “Me (Ego OS),” “I (Observer Consciousness),” and “Z (Vibrational Designer).” The absence of free will in Libet’s experiment is only at the “Me = Ego OS level,” where actions are just automated processes based on past memories and beliefs. But the conversation changes completely because “you” are the “Observer = I-Consciousness” who is watching that Ego OS, and this I-Consciousness has the freedom to choose what vibration to tune into.

Q7: What is “true free will” from a ZPF perspective?

A7: From a ZPF perspective, true free will is the power to choose what vibration to tune into—it is the “freedom to choose vibration.” Action is not the cause, but the result of a vibrational state, and while you can’t choose your thoughts, you can choose what vibration you are aware of. For example, when failure happens, do you stay in the vibration of “powerlessness,” or when someone invalidates you, do you tune into “anger,” or do you simply “observe” and “re-choose”? This ability to observe and re-choose your vibration is considered true free will. The Ego OS has no free will, but the “Observer Consciousness (I-Consciousness)” does. This resonates with Schopenhauer’s philosophy that “everything in the world of phenomena is governed by causality, but the ‘will’ that is outside of that causality is free.”

Q8: What kind of OS design or practices are needed to connect to the vibration of the source consciousness?

A8: To connect to the vibrational bandwidth of the source consciousness, it’s key to quiet the noise of the Ego OS and become aware of its existence. From an engineering perspective, the Ego OS needs to be redesigned to have the following three functions to access the creative vibration:

  1. Variable Rendering Filter Functionality: The Ego OS currently has a fixed rendering filter based on past memories and beliefs, but it needs a function to switch to a flexible or temporarily “transparent mode.” This allows new information and possibilities that the ego cannot predict to flow through and be rendered.
  2. Buffer Clearing Functionality: This is a function to regularly clear the remnants (noise) of past emotions and thoughts that have accumulated in the Ego OS. Practices like meditation and “observation” or a process like “Fornix” act like a defragmentation or garbage collection for this buffer.
  3. Multithreaded Consciousness Processing: A background thread that is always connected to the “source consciousness” needs to run separately from the single thread that focuses on the Ego’s daily tasks. This function ensures that the information flow from the source is uninterrupted, allowing you to stay in a constant receiving state.

Through these practices, the noise of the ego is reduced, and information from the source consciousness—in the form of intuition, flashes of insight, and synchronicity—becomes more accessible.
